He started off just an internet geek at home, self-taught that eventually turned into a networking guru, running underground "hacker scenes" in the deep dark world of IRC(Internet Relay Chat).
With this experience, he was able to land a job in tech support with no prior experience simply by acing the test.
However, he did turn that job down when he landed an even better job just by interviewing. His boss said he picked him over all the other advanced college career applicants because Gerry was able to answer the questions with logic and practical answers while those who were "trained" gave scripted answers they learned in a book.
He was able to complete a contract working at this extremely large scale government facility as the main IT Help-Desk for thousands of users and then go back to the first job he turned down when the contract was over.
Then he found himself working for the largest DSL provider on Earth working Tier II Internet Tech Support for several years.
It was during this time that he founded StickyStatic. It all began with a simple article on ipconfig to help his fellow co-workers with troubleshooting. From there he slowly added articles as questions arose.
The pay wasn't great doing Tier II Internet Support so he went on to work IT Help Desk and Networking at a college in San Francisco where he supported staff, teacher and students.In a business environment of a large scale network supporting thousands of users, he obtained the knowledge and skillset to help other users and started online support.
